Our Wandering Home

"I need some fresh air. How about you?"
She looks at me, blank stare.
"Want to go for a ride in your stroller?"
She screams. She dances. She pinches her finger while trying to open the stroller. I take this as a "yes".

I've lived in Texas for over five years now. It's no New York.
But then again, New York is no Texas.

There's a wild, easy way of Texas life. Something about the way the wind tumbles across the open fields and the skies seem to stretch on and on. Texas waves her flag long into December, shouting a clear "We're gonna ride this one out" while the most of the Northeast has given up her leaves and surrendered to winter.

It may not be mountains and snow, but it still feels like a Texas Christmas. Here we find that the world we live in is as beautiful as we find it. We're finding our own beauty here.

Home is something we create. Something we discover.
And sometimes, it's something we both desire and already have.
Making a home is just as important
as having a home

  2. I love it "Making a home is just as important
    as having a home."

Recently I've been thinking about what kind of home my kids and husband come home to after they've been out in the world each day.

  3. it's something we both desire and already have...

This hits me, but I can't yet articulate exactly what I feel. I think, and this might not make any sense, but it speaks to me in the way that I desire Jesus to take up more space in the home where He already resides.

  4. Your photos are perfect- especially the first and last.

I love the line that says "Home is something we discover". Sometimes I think we get so caught up in the creating part of it all we forget the discovery.

Andrea, you could be a new fave...love your words.

  5. Erin — I bet the pure fact that it's something you think about means that your home is the best place for them to come home to :)

Amy — Thanks so much! I've had to "rediscover" my home so that I can appreciate it when I get discontented.

    p.s. You're too kind *blush*
