A Little Bit About Life...

My husband is gone for a little while.

Long story, but not a sad one. He's just on a little journey and will return soon. He is doing good and is amazing, I'm so proud of him and I'll get into it more in another blog.

So, this means a season of single parenting, meals for one grown-up, taking out the garbage, and lots of girls nights. It means uninterrupted nights of watching absurd shows that only a mushy girl would like. Not her not-so-mushy man (though between you and me, he loves an annual viewing of Anne of Green Gables and Pride and Prejudice).

I daily live, play, cry and laugh with an unpredictable 18-month-old. Moment to moment we're either giggling and snuggling, or her legs are buckling under utter misery when I tell her "No, you cannot climb to the top of the chair and stand." We're just now starting the potty conversations. I find myself saying "tinkle" and "toot" a lot.

The dog that wandered into our home almost a month ago has yet to be neutered. This means I have to warn all house guests of his lurking, and to watch out when he seems to be interested in them. Oh.. and he likes armpits. It's weird, I know.

I'm working, and in a couple weeks will be working from home, self-employed and managing my own hours. This means working hard to line up income sources, being responsible, and acting like an adult. Sometimes I just want to sleep in and eat cereal all day while watching re-runs of Friends, but I can't. That's ok though. Adulthood has its perks.

We eat lots of apples, string cheese and yogurt. Bubbles are a big source of entertainment and I can hum along to every "Yo Gabba Gabba" song. I'm carrying a full-time workload with the full-time parenting game, but somehow it's all working out. I get excited when friends call, and sometimes refresh my Facebook browser obsessively in a short amount of time.

In a nutshell, these few short paragraphs, this is life. It could change tomorrow. So let's be grateful what we have today!

  1. You are right, life does change in a blink and the best we can do is the best with what we have. We are praying for you and all that you are going through, trusting and knowing that He takes care of you all, loves you more and loves you better! I must admit, though, my jealousy at seeing your life develop so far from us... we miss you a lot!

P.S. We're losing our cable tomorrow and I don't know if I am relieved or will actually miss yo gabba gabba! ha!
