Winter came down to our home one night Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow, And we, we were children once again.

It's snowing in Texas. Yes that's right. Two very contradictory words just appeared in the same sentence. As I type, small piles of white stuff are piling up in my backyard nook and the sky is the perfect shade of smoky gray.

We are home today, the three of us. Home to drink multiple cups of coffee, to eat stringy hot sandwiches of grilled cheese, to crawl under heavy blankets, and to accept winter in it's fullness for a good 24-48 hours.

I grew up in Upstate NY where snow was not a stranger. In fact, it earned many not-so-nice nicknames by early March. What is considered beautiful in December is absolutely dreadful once Spring is around the corner. And in my opinion, after January, Spring is always around the corner.

Today, though we are enjoying the quiet muffling snow.

Happy Winter!
